Melun Val de Seine, a new main economic center on Econovista

Crédit: Zeppeline

Located 48 km south of Paris, Melun Val de Seine occupies a strategic position between the capital and the French provinces which is underpinned by its outstanding transport infrastructure (direct access by road, daily TGV high-speed rail service to Mediterranean destinations, 5 stations served by RER line D high-speed metro).

Melun Val de Seine offers significant economic potential, including:
Nearly 200 hectares earmarked for new business parks;

A major role in the ASTech competitiveness cluster. The presence of an aeronautics cluster around SNECMA (part of Safran group), with its 4,000 employees, offers outstanding opportunities for locating businesses related to the aeronautics industry;

Major development projects ensuring a high-quality offering of land and property for businesses (the Villaroche business hub, Entrée de Ville business park, the Portes du Gâtinais project, Quartier Saint-Louis, etc.);

A strategy based on achieving a good work/life balance, including a highly developed service offering for the local population (accommodation, crèches, schools, leisure facilities).

With its rich historic and archaeological heritage, Melun Val de Seine is located within easy reach of many outstanding attractions, including the châteaux of Fontainebleau, Vaux-le-Vicomte and Blandy-les-Tours, and the artists’ village of Barbizon. Forty kilometres of Seine riverside, the forest of Fontainebleau and the Gâtinais Regional Park also help to make this a uniquely attractive place to live within Paris Region.

In 2009, a new leisure centre on the Seine riverside will offer a cinema complex, billiards, bowling, karting, restaurants, ice-skating, a theatre and meeting facilities.

Key figures:

- largest conurbation and capital of the Seine-et-Marne département

- 14 districts and a population of more than 105,000

- more than 5,200 companies and 47,000 jobs

- 1,000 hectares of business parks

- 10 urban parks and 122 km of cycle lanes
