Environmental awareness. Paris Nord 2 International Business Park receives ISO 14001 Certification

As part of its commitment to sound, responsible growth, Paris Nord 2 International Business Park has been setting strong environmental standards over the past few years. The business park has recently received from ECOPASS ISO 14001 Certification for the management of its shared facilities.

The first privately-managed business park in Europe, Paris Nord 2 has already attracted 500 companies and their 17.000 employees, offering exceptional surroundings. The business park spreads over 300 hectares that include 70 hectares of green, landscaped areas; one of the park's particularities, which we wish to preserve, in the perspective of a responsible future: our commitment to environmental awareness was self-evident.

The ISO 14001 certification asserts this commitment and validates the Environmental Management System we have established. Our goals in terms of water resources, maintenance of green areas, roads or facilities are recorded in our Environmental Management Program, along with the measures we will take to achieve them. This Program will be reviewed each year, according to the Continuous Improvement Process.

Hervé Chastagnol, General Manager of Paris Nord 2, explains: "As managers of the business park, we felt that guaranteeing the companies and their employees a high quality work environment was essential. Responsibility and sustainability are two keywords for Paris Nord 2's future. We took our first steps towards this future ensuring that our activities have as little impact as possible on the environment; this is what ISO 14001 certification is about.

Panorama: a new resource for discovering Essonne

Population, employment, business, revenues: the official website of the Essonne Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) has launched a new independent online resource presenting all aspects of this département’s economy from A to Z.
Maps, pictures and charts are used to help online visitors discover or find out more about the Essonne region, covering a wide range of themes which are grouped under seven headings: Environment and infrastructure, Demographics, Employment, Economic activity, Company start-ups and business transfers, Revenues and tax, and, finally, Priority areas and local development plans. The content of each section is downloadable in PDF datasheet format.

All of which makes it easy to discover that the Essonne region hosts a substantial number of major corporations and innovative SMEs in high-technology sectors. In all, nearly 44,000 businesses are located in the département.
Six major road routes cross Essonne to the north and the south, while the LGV Atlantique high-speed rail line crosses it from
Verrières-le-Buisson to Saint-Cyr-sous-Dourdan in the west. North Essonne benefits from the presence of Paris-Orly international airport.
Now the CCI has made a mass of information easily accessible to anyone – students, researchers, companies and institutions – with an interest in Essonne’s socio-economic geography.
