The number of new companies registered in Paris Region in March 2009 was significantly higher than in March 2008, showing an increase of 78%. After several months of decline, the start of 2009 has been marked by strong growth, doubtless due to the new “auto-entrepreneur” tax regime for small businesses/the self-employed introduced with effect from 1 January.
Looking at the period from December 2008 to March 2009 the number of company start-ups in the region also showed a 25% increase over the equivalent four-month period in the previous year. However this growth rate is lower than that observed over the same period in the rest of
outside Paris Region (+36%). France
INSEE’s monthly economic report Conjoncture for March also includes an in-depth look at the information and communications sector. Even though relatively small, this business sector has one of the highest growth rates for company start-ups in the region, with an increase of 52% compared with the period from December 2007 to March 2008.
