Val-de-Marne / Essonne: work begins on Cœur d'Orly

Work has just begun on the Cœur d'Orly business district near Orly Airport, with the demolition of a disused building and a car park. Building work is scheduled to start late 2009. Cœur d'Orly will eventually comprise three office blocks and one mixed block of shops and businesses, a conference centre, a 4-star hotel and a combined shopping, services and leisure centre. The site will be developed in three phases. The first will involve the construction of 70,000 sqm of offices and 3,500 sqm of shops and services at ground floor level. Phase two concerns 40,000 sqm of offices and a 30,000-sqm shopping, services and leisure facility. This phase is scheduled for completion in 2012-2013. An international conference centre is also planned. Work on Cœur d'Orly will be completed by 2011. The business district will be served by existing transport services (RER, Orly VAL) as well as by future facilities such as the Villejuif-Juvisy light rail link. When the project is completed, 10,000 people will work in this new business district in south Paris.
